New photos up of the Munger Moss and its owner, Ramona. This interview (done last October) was one of my favorites, so I'll be working to post the transcript soon.

In the meantime, more photos on the way from April's trip to Arizona and some really great stays (including my first wigwam).

New interview posted from Jack Patel - the first interview I did on this project, with one of the most thoughtful owners I've met.

And, if you happen to call the Desert Hills Motel and listen to the answering machine, that's my voice welcoming you to the Desert Hills and asking if you know your extension. I am sure that my recording this as a favor to Jack was a breach of journalistic ethics, but then again, I never said I was a journalist.

Also, the blog sepiamutiny.com gave a shout out to this project - thanks guys! I love reading people's comments and getting more people interested in the project. That reminds me that I need to set up commenting here...

The site is up! So far, there are only pictures and writing from me, but over the next several months, I'll be posting interviews and maybe even some audio clips. I'm also hoping to put up a google map here. I'd love it if the googlemap could have content added from other users, but I'll have to think about that some more. Certainly there's no shortage of Route 66 content out there already, so I'm wondering, how can this be different or better than what's already out there? If you have some thoughts about this, I hope you'll email me and let me know.
